Cigar Smoking – The Art of Smoking a Cigar

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

Selecting your first cigar might be as difficult as choosing a particular ice cream from the large number of varieties available in the shop. I did not face this problem, being accompanied by a cigar smoker who gave me proper guidance. He thoughtfully explained to me the qualities of various cigars and their main characteristics. Similarly, I would prefer to guide you correctly so that you could make the right choice and enjoy cigar smoking

It is advisable not to place order for cigar online until you gain full knowledge about it. You should actually select an exclusive shop that stocks only cigars, Briar and pipe tobacco. It would be nice to have a few friends who could join you in enjoying cigar smoking.

Cigars vary from being mild to strong. You should start smoking a cigar which is hand rolled and mild. Royal Jamaica, Romeoy Julieta and Macanudo are the known cigars which are mild. Good quality cigars cost between $8 and $11.

While selecting a cigar you should first look at their length and shapes. Carona’s length is 5” and is mild. Double Carona is twice its length. Robusto is a cigar which is thick and short. These are the famous brands. Carona could be your first choice. You should get the cigar cut at the shop itself or procure a Guillotine cutter costing $2.

Unless you are familiar with the method of lighting a cigar, it could be complicated. Wooden match stick should be used for lighting of cigar. After putting the cigar in the mouth rotate it slowly in such a way that just the tip of cigar touches flame. After taking slow puff for a few seconds rotate the cigar and see that complete surface becomes radiant red. If some parts are not bright red, the process should be repeated.

Cigar should not be kept between the teeth. It should be kept between the lips. Sip gently as in the case of a glass of wine. Have long draws slowly and permit the smoke to stimulate the taste buds. You should not breathe in smoke. Smoking is not done in a hurry. Gap of 45 seconds is given between puffs to make it enjoyable. This makes the smoke in the mouth smooth and cool. Cigar should be allowed to settle for a few minutes, if it gets heated up close to fingers.

Cigars last for three to five minutes. It should not be lit after a gap of 25 to 45 seconds. It is likely to cause bitter taste. Cigar ash should not tapped on the ashtray till it builds to .5’’. When tapping your cigar, you should only tap ever so slightly so as not to disrupt the taste.

If you follow the given instructions you would certainly relish the delicate fragrance of cigar. You should taste various types of cigar and try and compare them to understand their worth. Just make sure that you always preserve your cigars with appropriate preservation techniques such as a quality humidor or at the very least with some form of cedar trays.

I have been involved in the cigar industry for over 20 years and I have written extensive guides on such products as the Travel Humidor, and the Palio Cutter. Also, see some of my latest guides on one of the best cigar accessories, the Cigar Caddy

Weight Loss Plateau: Why Most Diets Work at First and Then Fail

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

When it comes to starting a new diet most people manage to lose weight for the first few weeks. They rapidly shed some pounds and think they’ve finally found their ultimate diet. Unfortunately, as so many looking to lose weight have found out, this is generally a temporary thing. Within a few weeks of starting a new diet most people will stop losing the weight they initially did.

The answer to this question is that you most probably have hit a “weight loss plateau”. This usually occurs because your body has become used to the diet program you have begun. It’s a part of our nature. In our prehistory what would happen if we kept losing weight because we couldn’t find food? An energy balance is needed to survive.

Many of the diets are created to provide you with an initial hit that shocks your body with something new. Because this is new you’re body will start burning fat in order to sustain its normal levels. Whilst this is great at first within a few weeks your body will have become accustomed to the new diet program and is no longer shocked into burning calories. This is what makes so many people give up diets so very quickly.

So How do you Combat this Weight Loss Plateau?

Forget counting calories. So many people begin a diet and do nothing but count the calories. They think that if they eat less calories they’ll lose weight, which they will at first, until, the body becomes used to it. But with low calories your metabolic rate has no real reason to increase itself. So if it is at a low point because of such low calorie consumption it won’t burn fat.

In order to burn fat successfully and fight plateaus you need to create a high metabolic rate. The easiest way to do that is to fuel it throughout the day. You can do this by eating small, regular means rather than the normal three of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Most people fill themselves at these intervals and that does not do their body any favours.

Focus on eating healthy foods regularly, with small snacks every three hours. These must be healthy though! Eating burgers and chips is no good. Asians eat the odd burger, but mostly we have regular healthy food and we are slim.

On top of eating regularly and healthily exercise will also help you in your quest for weight loss by raising your metabolic rate. If you combine a good, steady diet with regular exercise you will be able to lose weight. A brisk walk or enjoyable bike ride a few times a week will make the world of difference to your weight loss goals.

Forget those diets that say you can lose weight without doing any exercise whatsoever. They might work for a little while. But then you will hit the weight loss plateau and give up or try another diet. Again it may work for a few weeks as your body is “shocked” with the new diet but in the long term it will fail.

Make sure you don’t become disheartened by your own weight loss plateau. You now understand why it happens, and how to avoid it!

Try A Hotel Spa Resort For Your Next Getaway!

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

When trying to get a break from the stresses and strains of everyday life, many of us opt for the resort spa option. This is where we visit a resort, and gain all of the benefits of a thorough pampering session, before continuing on to stay overnight to gain a good night’s sleep at the end of it all.

Resort spas, while predominately lovely places with many facilities, do bear some investigation beforehand. Do your research on the place before you decide to visit, as they can range in size and facility offering quite wildly at times. Make sure you get online and check out the resort and what it offers the customer. You could save yourself a major headache.

One unique feature of a resort spa is that you are usually able to pick and choose which treatments you want to have. This is an obvious benefit if you are just staying for one night, and don’t really have the time or inclination to sample everything under the sun. It also makes sense if you are a seasoned user of the spa environment, and know exactly what you want. If you want to receive a range of massages over the course of an afternoon, for example, a resort spa should be able to offer that flexibility.

That said, this can, but not always, mean a limited range of treatments on offer. For example, if you wanted to receive a specialist kind of facial it may not be available at this particular resort spa. This is why it pays to know exactly what you can ask to have before you start committing to a place.

The larger resort spas offer quite a lot though. Some have great sporting activities alongside the more usual relaxation fare. They can offer tennis, horse riding and even mountain trekking. It all depends on where you opt to go.

Some things to bear in mind include the important fact that some resort spas will not offer food. Destination or holiday spas almost always do. Be sure to remember this when booking your time, it may be a question of making yourself aware of the local restaurants and bars that are nearby.

These places are exceptionally good value if you are couple and one of you does not want the spa experience, instead opting for the sports break. As stated earlier, resort spas can offer sports and often do, which means that couples do favour them as a means of making sure each gets what they want when they take the break.

Obviously, they are thus highly suitable if you have children. Even if the sports are not enough to keep them busy while you are pampered, many do run special children’s activities and some even have special camps where children can be left under supervision to enjoy a wide range of activities, while you soak up the relaxing treatments.

Remember to do your homework, especially when it comes to being aware of the facilities they have on offer at a resort spa. Get it right, and you should have a great, and very rewarding weekend.

5 Steps to a Good Hair Transplant Surgeon

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

The prospect of finding a good hair transplant surgeon can be time consuming if you do not know where to start. The common sense approach is to get a recommendation from a friend or an associate. And since the procedure requires precision and expertise failing which the outcome can be on most occasions irrevocable (unrepairable).

Hair transplantation is a highly specialized field of cosmetic surgery, one of the most sensible first step is look for the list of medical doctors who are members of the International Society of Hair Restoration Society. If given a choice, I would much prefer a Hair restoration surgeon, as they are also called, who are current and relevant in all their skills, and membership to this society validates this through their continuing quality improvement and education for professionals in the field of medical hair restoration surgery.

Once we get past the first step, the next best way to find a good surgeon for hair transplanting is by going through the following 4 steps:

1. Look for a hair restoration surgeon in your city. While medical tourism has picked up and people travel to Asian destinations like India, Thailand, Pakistan for transplantation surgery to save money and get good treatment, hair transplants ought to be carried out in your place of residence for practical reasons. Let me explain how this helps in multiple ways. Firstly, you do not have to leave your comfort area since you are familiar with your city of residence. And a transplant is still a surgery after all, and there is a possibility that you might need to make multiple trips before and after the procedure for further consultation, take advice whenever there is discomfort, and above all, have easy access to the doctor. Traveling thousands of miles does not make economical sense at all, especially if a problem arises and the journey has to be undertaken time and again. I know because countless people have approached us for hair transplant repair work.

2. Shortlist the hair restoration clinics in the city and look for references. Recommendations of people who have already gone through this procedure is a big help. The family physician who is part of the medical fraternity in the city can also help in finding good surgeons.

3. While checking out and comparing the rates and charges, shortlist those that fit into the budget allocated for the hair transplant. Out of these, look for the most highly qualified and experienced surgeons, and find out details about their expertise. Good surgeons will always have patients willing to vouch for them. Patient reviews and reports give a lot of insights about the procedure and the common hair problems one might faced.

4. The success rate of the clinic and the surgeon is reflected in the percentage of hair growth achieved by its patients. Many clinics offer to replace the grafts that do not show hair growth free of charge at a later date. Find out if the clinic offers the same.

All these fact gathering endeavors will result in the selection of the best hair restoration surgeon and make your grafting procedure a success.
